Holiday Apron with Arsonist Elves? [28 Dec 2009|06:39pm] thriftwhore [tanookijen] I've been on the hunt for a half apron for a while now, and when I do manage to come across them, they end up being a ridiculous price (the most expensive one I've found in stores was about $30.00 for a half apron and it wasn't even that awesome). So today on a spur of the moment trip to Goodwill, I found this: Apologies for the craptastic camera action. It was made by American Greetings Corp. in 1980, their "Himself the Elf" line. Price - $1.00 And because it appears that the elves are sticking matches into the snowman for use as arms, I can only assume that they are Arsonists and plan to light him on fire. 3 comments|post comment

I think I found my lucky thrift store. [16 Dec 2009|08:10pm] thriftwhore [sydni_64] [ mood | excited ] I'm so excited about my latest find! I just got back from thrifting. I saw a nice blue tote, and thought to myself, this would be a good tote to carry over the holidays. I'll be travelling and visiting family and friends, and it's nice to have a big tote to throw everything in. Weighing into my decision was that I thought the tote looked exceptionally well-constructed, and possibly expensive. I knew I had heard the brand name before, but couldn't quite place it. In any event, the tote cost $6.99, which I figured was OK, plus I got a 25% discount for being affiliated with a university, so the bag cost a little over $5. Well, I got home, fired up the Google machine, and realized that I had scored a brand new $485 handbag. WOW. (Yes, this is the same thrift store I got the Syracuse China at!)
